Matt Cottrell is a Client Relationship Manager with the Madrid Retirement Advisors Team, where he brings more than two decades of entrepreneurial experience to help clients navigate their financial goals with clarity and confidence. His background spans fintech, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and professional sports management, with a consistent focus on growth, innovation, and client-centered solutions.
Before joining Madrid Retirement Advisors, Matt founded, scaled, and successfully exited multiple ventures, co-developed patented technologies in the energy sector and consumer finance, and led strategic business development efforts across highly regulated industries. He also spent a decade as a sports agent representing elite athletes in professional motorsports, managing championship-winning careers and collaborating with global automotive brands to introduce sustainable technologies.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University, with an emphasis in Business and Communications, and is currently pursuing his CFP® certification as well as his Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Matt now lives in Hermosa Beach, California. Outside of work, he enjoys adventure travel, surfing, and snowboarding.
